    I’ll be there.

  5. Karen Putz says:

My only concern is that this is close to the SOBCon’09 event– I probably can only afford to attend one, not both…

  6. @Karen – we’re not sure on the date yet. I know that SOBCon is in May. We’re still in the planning stages for a time/date – your feedback helps. thanks!

  7. Lorelle says:

It would be cool to have it back to back with SOBCon (exhausting, though) for those of us flying in for the event. Two weekends of bloggy fun would be terrific – would save on airfare.

This is so exciting. Let me know how I can help!

@Karen: I don’t know what they have planned, but WordCamps are supposed to be free or really low cost. In Chicago, it should be easy to find sponsors and keep it unconferency, which is what has worked beautifully for many WordCamp events, keeping the cost really low. $20-$25 is normal. I hope they can do the same here.

  8. Lorelle – thanks for plug on wordcamp.info! Hmm .. back to back w/ SOBCon – – if we could just sneak a barcamp in the weekdays in between, we could get sufficiently exhausted. haha 🙂

Thank you for your offer to help, as well – we will most definitely be in touch.

@Karen – we absolutely intend on keeping costs way low on this.. free, if at all possible! We’ll update here as soon as we have specifics and such 🙂

  30. Scott Offord says:

It’s been around 11 days since this last post… Any news about the timeline/status/planning of your event? Have you narrowed it down to a certain month, etc?

  31. We’re still working on the timeline/location. We have narrowed it down to June. Brian is arranging the venue – – and he is currently at sea on a cruise with his wife, and our other co-organizer, Cory Miller. Soon as those two clowns get back on land – – we’ll be able to get together and solidify plans.

    Hang tight – we’re getting there 🙂

I am definitely interested in attending this event as well. I just wonder if the event will happen in June which may conflict with WordCamp Dallas. I’ll have to choose between which one to go to which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Depending on the cost and schedule, I might be interested.

  46. I’m definitely interested in attending. I Love Chicago (the art, the food, the industrial science museum, the food)! I’ll check back and I’m on the RSS feed. One thing I would strongly recommend is working out a hotel contract with *very* reasonable room rates for attendees. Chicago is one of the most expensive cities in the U.S. attending conferences (not as bad as SF, but 1 of the top 5).

If you need any hotel negotiation tips, feel free to drop me a line.
