I’m looking forward to hearing Doug Hanna speak at WordCamp Chicago on the topic of the WordPress Showcase. For those of you who are not aware – or who haven’t taken a good long look at it – the WordPress Showcase is a section of the official WordPress site where they show off WordPress being used in innovative and creative ways across the vast world wide web (aka: www). The goal of the Showcase is to show the world what WordPress can do – and only a small number of sites are showcased on this site, so the ones you see in the spotlight are exceptional executions of the WordPress platform; including WordPress.Org, WordPress MU, BuddyPress and WordPress.com.
Doug Hanna has spoken at several WordCamps around the country and works for Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com and Akismet.com, as a “Communications Engineer.” At Automattic, Doug spends most of his time running the day-to-day operations of the WordPress.org Showcase and helping to support WordPress.com users.
At WordCamp Chicago, we’re looking forward to hearing what it takes to manage the day to day operations of the WordPress Showcase, including criteria for site submission, things to avoid and what’s in store for the future of the WordPress Showcase.
Can’t wait!
