This time, next month, we’ll be leaving Chicago – having just attended the Windy City’s first WordCamp! I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone and learning some great things from the speakers at WordCamp Chicago. If you have not yet registered – take the opportunity to do it now, the last time I looked, there were 67 tickets remaining, out of the 200 available.
Some details for those attending:
- I updated the FAQ page with a listing of nearby hotels – that page is sorted in order of distance from the venue.
- The UBS Tower is wired – no worries about being connected.
- On Saturday, June 6, attendees will enjoy a catered lunch at noon and all day beverage service (coffee, sodas, herbal teas, water) – the event starts at 9am and goes until 5pm.
- On Sunday, June 7, attendees will enjoy a catered Continental Breakfast with an assortment of danish, muffins, doughnuts and bagels – with a variety of cream cheeses, butter and jelly; a platter of fresh seasonal fruit and an all day beverage service (coffee, sodas, herbal teas and water). The event starts at 9am and goes until noon.
- I have also updated the FAQ page with information about directions and parking at the UBS Tower Building in Chicago…it’s pretty easy to get to.
We currently have no plans for video or audio of the event – if any of the attendees are interested, please drop me a line and let me know: lisa AT lisasabin-wilson DOT com.
I got a room at the Club Quarters (0.40 miles) for $83! This does not match the pricing on their web site, I got it by calling on the phone. YMMV, especially since I called on this when Lisa put the list up a month ago (Thanks Lisa!).
I believe this includes Internet (according to the web site).
It might be helpful to have public transit directions (or links at least) in with the driving directions. The conference center is close to Metra’s Ogilvie Transportation Center, Union Station, Washington/Wells on the loop el, and the Monroe stops on the subway lines. Because of limited Sunday service, Metra may not run trains early enough for Sunday morning on some lines.
Two things.
One: What will be the hash tag for the event on Twitter and Flickr?
Two: Need to park somewhere. Took the Sax Chicago recommendation, and then realized parking is $42 per night! Any suggestions?
1.) #wcchicago
2.) From the UBS Tower website http://www.conferencecenteratubstower.com/
I’ll call to find out if there is a fee and if parking can be validated for the event and will make an announcement here towards the end of the week with some other “good to knows” I have for folks attending.
Thanks, David!
