Speaker Spotlight: Mutliple domains in one install

Hi! I’m Andrea and I’ll be speaking at WordCamp Chicago in a session called Domain Mapping. You may be wondering what that even means. Well, that’s what I’m going to tell you. 😀

With 3.0 on the horizon, you will now have the ability to enable a network of sites in your install. By default, each one of these will be in a subdomain or subfolder format. I’ll show you how to enable the network first, so you can have additional sites on your web server without installing WordPress again. It’s really fun, and once all set up – way cool!

But the best part? Mucking around in our DNS. It’s okay, I’ll walk you through step by step. Then you’ll be able to map a full domain name to one of your extra sites you’ve created. If you’re a Level 10 Geek with SysAdmin powers 😉 , I’ll also mention a couple other tips for some hardcore domain mapping when we dive in Apache virtual host records. RAWK!

Hands down, this is one of my favorite things to do with a Network of sites, and I hope you’ll attend.

Fantastic, I’m thrilled to see this is a topic since I think it will be one of the most important new features in WP3 – and thanks pointing out the time change.
